The "water drinking asphalt" is not asphalt. It is a special concrete mix. Trust me I've built them before.

Wont the drinking asphalt road materials get clogged in a short amount of time and just become a regular parking lot?

I live off the Tennessee river. Obviously, local stone is used in the asphalt, which here, means river rock. Since river rock is generally orange-red in appearance, so are the roads.

btw if someone visits France, Guédelon is really a must see if you're into medieval times and techniques. They will explain everything in details and you can also ask them about anything. The blacksmiths were my favorite ^^
